A dilemma: DFS, Harveys, TCS or none?

Hi.
firstly I am sorry if this is yet a new thread on the same subject, but now it's all combined.
For the past week I had my heart set of a Celebrity Woburn, as i was told by shops the power recliner 3str is 186cm long (or a bit less). It's not.
It is 191cm.... they have some tiny text at the foot of the catalogue to say the power recliners at 5cm more!
So I can't have it because of the size restrictions I have.
So, am back to stage one again.
DFS: 2 seater leather "Supreme".
http://www.dfs.co.uk/sofas/recliner-sofas/supreme/
It's one of the most outstanding sofas I have ever sat on, but it's expensive, and from reading about DFS aftersales, and about the way they do the 0% APR over 4 years (in the price, apparently), it puts me off. But it's almost better than a lazyboy to sit on.
But it's about 167cm long, and I wanted closer to 180-185. Yet as it reclines, should that cause me not to buy it?
Harveys: Paramount without media tray:

It's 178cm long, so pretty much spot on. The height is great for me (I'm 6'2"), so good for my head. Tho I have to say, not as supportive on the head as the Supreme. But a good £500 cheaper.
TCS: large 2 seater non-recliner, but can be leather.

For what it is, this is expensive, as to get it in leather is close to £1,000. Same as the Harveys, yet harveys recliners. This doesn't! And both are made in Middle East.
I'm completely lost now.
If anyone has any thoughts on this, advice based on the company's, quality of leathers from each store, thoughts on the length of sofa I want, I'd be very grateful to hear them.
Sooo frustrating. That one email this morning completely dissolved the whole 'Celebrity' idea.

Don't bother with DFS, the quality of awful. My 2 leather sofas cost £2000 4 years ago and from the look of them needed replacing last year. Shocking value for money, I wish I had gone with something cheaper, then I wouldn't be as loath to replace them.
From my experience, the showroom sofa will be amazing to sit on. If you buy it, it will be ok for maybe 6 months and then you will see a rapid decline.
I wish I'd have checked on here before going for DFS, it seems like quite a common thing with them.0 -
Ok. What about the other options?
I have a local firm that I might walk over to later. See if they can "put the feelers out" for my specific needs.
So hacked off about Celebrity.0 -
try thomas lloyds.
far better than the high st overpriced rubbish.Get some gorm.0 -
Beautiful, but as I've said I am after a recliner.
Theirs are only fixed.0 -
Harveys won't last forever either but aren't as ludicrously over-priced as DFS.
I bought a 3-seater Harveys leather sofa for about £500 and it lasted around 5 years. We gave it to a friend who needed a sofa when we replaced it and he uses it, but one of the three seats had sagged quite badly at that point.
In Jan we got a 3 seat Club recliner sofa from Harveys and matching arm-chair. I love them - really comfy. We got a sofa-bed at the same time and probably got all three items for about the same as a sofa from DFS. And I walked into DFS and pretty much straight back out again as the leather ones I looked at were nasty stiff leather.
Had no real issues with any Harveys furniture, so long as you're aware that it won't last forever. Can't comment on TCS.
We looked at some local independents but they were all expensive. Probably better quality but we want to have kids in the next few years who'll jump on the sofa and cover it in food and crayon. Figured it was better to go with a cheaper one that we wouldn't be so upset if we had to replace it.0 -
The independant one have expensive stuff, but it's cause they are made in the UK (Sherborne, Celebrity...). So you are paying UK salaries. Not 10p an hour in the middle east!
Harveys is the closest one to the right size, with recliner. And it's about £1000 cheaper than Celebrity. However, if something goes wrong with it, I'm told getting parts for them is a nightmare. But if it happens with a British one, it's far easier.
Club? I'll have to look at that, but I think I have looked at just about every sofa in the whole of Lincolnshire and Cambridgeshire!
The issue is the width. But you can get those MagiGlide things which apparently makes it easier to move a sofa, so you can open cupboards??0 -
The Club range is lovely and quite a bit cheaper than the Harveys one you posted. BUT I had a look and our 3-seater is 213cm wide and the 2-seater is 163cm wide so they don't have one in the size you want.
I wouldn't try moving my Club sofa. It came in three pieces. Well, six actually. The three seat sections were fixed together and then the three backs went on (the delivery guys did this - we didn't have to). The good thing about this is it's dead easy to get into the house (and out of if we move). The bad thing is that if you try and move it, it feels slightly 'wobbly'. When sitting/laying on it you'd never know it wasn't one piece. But moving it you can tell so I wouldn't try a glider thing with it.0
