Halifax Loan charges - Can I claim?

Hi all,

I just wondered is the bank charges reclaim still something that is happening?

I did this a few years ago when it first came to light and had great success claiming back off a few credit cards, store cards and my current account, which actually led to me being able to pay off a lot of debt I had so was great.

My question now is, I am curently dealing with claiming for PPI on my loan. I have had an acceptance letter and signed my form for it so just waiting for figures to come through.

However while I have been looking into this loan, I have noticed going back on my statement that I paid charges on it for a few missed payments as below:

8/4/05 £20
4/7/06 £30
8/8/06 £20
8/9/06 £20
19/9/06 £30
7/10/06 £20
13/10/06 £50
8/11/06 £20
8/12/06 £20
8/1/07 £20

Given the dates these were made and/or the fact I am claiming for PPI does anyone think I am able to claim anything for the above?

I presume the fact I am claiming PPI back would have nothing to do with this as that was unlawful in itself and has nothing to do with the charges?

Any advice would be most appreciated.

Thanks :)

Not really. That is why this sectrion of the board is so dead nowadays.

You can ask but you are totally reliant on their goodwill.

PPI issues were not unlawful. Indeed, those that have pursued firms via the courts have nearly always lost their case.

Thanks, Do you think once my PPI is sorted its worth trying to send the template offers off just to see?

they can only say no. So, it does no harm.

Thanks, might give it a go, nothing to lose really. Will wait until my PPI is sorted out as the figure I've estimated should more than cover paying the loan off so will do it after that, thanks for replying :)

    Hi,

When I look at the bank charges templates, it refers to bank accounts and says "I am writing to request that you repay all the charges in relation to direct debits, unauthorised overdrafts and standing orders that have been applied to my account in the past six years."

Am I right in thinking I couldn't claim for charges for missed payments on my loan or would I just have to re-word this section slightly?

    Thanks
