Southern Electric claiming credit

All of them do if they send you estimated bills for 2 years all of which have been underestimated and the customer does not phone up with the correct (higher) reading. You only have to see all the posts on here about 'catch up bills'.
That's different: they did not knowingly let you in debit - they collect the DD based on their knowledge (or estimate). In my (and some other people's) case, they knowingly let my acount in credit and continue to collect the same amount of DD that made it in credit.Mark Hughes' blue and white army0 -
But if you'd checked your quarterly bill, you'd have known about it long before the credit had reached that level. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Im with Southern electric and today checked my bank account and they had refunded me £511 without me even requesting it!! I was straight on the phone as this is my winter coverage, the advisor did say it was silly for them to put it into my account and they will take it back out if i wanted them to but will take up to 10 days. He also put a note on the system to only refund if requested. So now got to wait for them to take the money back.I will lose 2 stone by this summer!!!!!!0

You'd have thought they'd suspend the DD for a couple of months, but no - they just keep taking the money... No wonder I'm struggling to make ends meet...
I've just fired off an email to claim some back...! (No customer service on a sunday - and looks like they quote 5 working days to refund   )[/QU
How is a company meant to know exactly what is happening in your house hold? Its your money and your responsilility to keep track of your bills and direct debits. An online internet account with them might be usful so you can check you account every week or day if your that worried about it! Alot of gas and electric customers actually prefer their accounts to be in credit as per the poster below who was unhappy his was auto refunded. You can't please everyone0
