Insurers dont tend to credit check for the purposes of if to offer DDs or not. Many are starting to use it as a rating factor however so a poor credit score can result in an increase in premium (basically a fraud risk).0

Is that why I had like 20 credit checks on my credit report? There were all from companies I have never actually took out a policy with, but from searches on confused.com. I now use a false name & DOB when searching comparison sites.0 -
Most small credit transactions operate a floor limit arrangement that get auto accepted as long as the annual cost is below their limit.
Confused.com do credit checks and ID checks.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. My credit score is all over the place and not had a problem with monthly payments on my insurance, but Admiral wouldn't let me do monthly payments when I was going to use them.0

When my OH got a quote from them it did not show and option to pay monthly, just said it is not available. So he called them and they sorted the policy & payment plan over the phone.0 -
If you were going directly to them then yes, though the names against the searches should tell you that. If you were going through an aggregator like Confused.com then no as confused themselves do a scoring and not the insurers/ brokers on their panel.fruityfairy wrote: »Is that why I had like 20 credit checks on my credit report? you won't get any yes or no's on whether you'll be ok. I've answered with my experience but if you want a definite answer about your own insurance you'll have to phone them up.0
