Selling collectables

Options
I have an interest in antiques, particularly Victorian tableware, and I have started to collect and to read up about it, to the point where I am started to feel that I know what I am talking about.

I buy stuff because it appeals to me and/or because I feel it may be worth something. I have looked around and came to the conclusion that for low value items, the only place to sell is on Ebay and for it to be worthwhile it would be a case of shifting lots of items for peanuts, even if the piece in question is 100 year old.

Has anyone tried selling it successfully or considered any avenues ? Is it worth considering Ebid ?

I suspect it's a non-starter as a business
Keep calm and carry on

I sell collectables , glass china Victoriana etc. It moves fairly well on ebay as long as you keep your prices mega low. I sort all my stuff though and probably only list on ebay about a fifth of what I buy , the rest goes out via car boots or goes straight to the charity shop. The real killer is postage as it costs a lot to package and post even the smallest china or glass item.

I have specialist boxes and sell worldwide, Australia is a huge market. Due to time spent packign I also sell in a number of other markets just to keep my turnover going.

I do list on ebid and have done for about 8 years and have sold maybe 10 items in all that time.

Age is unimportant with collectables, for instance i have Victorian glasses here that we use for Ribena and squash as although they are well over 100 years old they are worthless. Yet get some original bakelite cups from the 60s and they will make you a mint.
