unspent convictions home insureance

my insureance asks do you have any unspent convictions "other than motoring offences", what happens if you got a fine for the motoring offence,do i declare it as unspent as the five years is not up yet, or do i ignore it coz it was for a motoring offence,?

  • They're looking for criminal convictions, not motoring offences, which is why they say "other than...". They're after fraudsters etc. Motoring convictions don't need to be listed is what they're saying.

    Hi

The question seemed to be 'other than motoring offences' so they are looking for other convictions not concerned with traffic law. There are normally other sections relating specifically to motoring offences which is where you would need to declare this. What was the offence? if was a fine for a not wearing a seat belt then its non endorsable and does not have to be declared at all. If you were fined and got points on your licence then it was an endorable offence which would need to be declared in the appropriate section. :)

que? This is a very odd answer. Please ignore.

They are asking about convictions which are unconnected to driving (i.e assault / gbh / fraud / etc etc etc)

    Pretty self-explanatory.

Is this not what I said in the first lines of my post that they are looking for offences un-connected to traffic offences? The rest was in relation to the sections that would require traffic offences to be declared as the OP seemed to be confused as to where to declare this. I’m sorry if you misunderstood my post perhaps it wasn’t made clear but I don’t think it calls for 'please ignore'.

There will not be any such sections - I think you may have missed the fact that this is a home insurance proposal form.

I did miss that, I should stop trying to read so late at night! I now understand why it would not make sense and I apologise for my error. Now it has been pointed out in a constructive way I will offer myself suitable advice
