New PC

Hi guys ,long time reader first time threader.

Im looking to buy a new pc, but the one i found doesnt come with a monitor would my current one work with it. My current pc is a sony vaio and is nearly 10 years old. I thought it would be better to ask on here then in the shop where the guy might tell me yeah i do need a new jus so he can getter a bigger sale lol .

    Probably it would but it won't cost you anything to try it first - you should check the monitor sockets on the PC (I assume it is desktop) - you may need a dvi:vga adapter which are pennies on ebay.

    I'd be surprised if it couldn't work with your monitor, especially if your monitor just uses a standard VGA cable.

  • I would say your old monitor will work with the new PC, VGA - VGA cable or DVI - VGA cable will suffice, amazon or ebay are best bets.
    You can also find cheap sub 19' monitors that will be visually better than a 10 year old one. Might be something to look in to if you feel your old monitor is too small / doesn't look great.
