    The one mentioned most on here seems to be Capital One (although my old JL Partnership card operated similarly), which says "on or within 3 days of..." (which translates as 3 days before in practice!).

    Scarily, it's even more vague - "on or within 3 working days" of a specific date 2-3 days before the actual due date. It could potentially be understood to be six calendar days earlier, for example if the date shown is the last of a 4 day bank holiday weekend. In my experience though, it was always taken the first working day after the specified day if it happened to be a bank holiday/weekend, so perhaps it's just a last resort CYA.
