Can anyone explain why butter has gone up in price recently?

Everything has increased in price, not just butter. I noticed this afternoon that a 250 gramme pack has gone up by nine pence since last week in Lidl. I understand the increase in butter prices is mainly due to the increased cost of cereals and animal feed. I also understand that dairy farmers are taking a huge hit on every pint sold to the supermarkets which explains why the price of that has remained steady.0

Thought they ate just grass in the summer. That's the cows - not the dairy farmers.;)BitterAndTwisted wrote: »I understand the increase in butter prices is mainly due to the increased cost of cereals and animal feed. The milk flush is in the spring which is when cow produce the most amount of milk - so as we go into autumn the milk production does decrease. The farmers are also receiving a higher price per litre. There are also the increased cost of fuel which also goes some way to explain the price increase.Man plans and God laughs...Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry. But by demonstrating that all people cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it introduces the idea that if we try to understand each other, we may even become friends.0
