Hi All - FYI
As an existing MBNA card holder (£18k) limit i have just be turned down for a Virgin (MBNA) card. I expected trouble due to my existing limit, and tried the approach already suggested elsewhere on this site of asking for some of my £18k limit to be transferred to the Virgin card (obviously so i could get a cheap balance transfer). However, the Virgin rep. told me that this was no longer possible and MBNA were no longer allowing people to apply for multiple cards.
Needless to say i will be cancelling my MBNA card shortly once everything is cleared out this month (i currently use it as a regular spending card) and making an application to another MBNA affiliate in 9-12 months.....
Hopefullly this info will help some people out there - if you have a different experience (from now on with new applications) with MBNA then post it here.

When I phoned MBNA about a week ago they said I was allowed to have more than one of their cards
Maybe if you have certain varieties of MBNA card you are not allowed to have a different card.

SRD probably best to do this, but when you eventually get another MBNA card ask them to transfer the credit limit from your now closed account, they did it for me and more than doubled my limit!2p off is still 2p off!0
