insurance companys representive damaged my laptop

i have a laptop which i dropped causing no external damage but no longer worked. sent it away to my insurance companys representive for a possible claim. when they inspected it it just needed a new hard drive which wasnt worth claiming so they arranged to ship it back to me. when it arrived it was in a polothene wrapper inside a fragile cardboard box and had pieces cracked off on the corners and cracks on the plastic surrounding the screen and various smaller marks. the keyboard didnt work nor any of the usb ports on the left of the machine. i have returned it to them and they have rung me today to say it is repairable but will only guaranteee the parts they are replacing , so if it goes wrong after a week its tough. im waiting to speak to a manager as they wont tell me who is responsible ie the agent or the carrier for the damage. i dont feel happy about taking back a laptop thats been battered . does anyone have any ideas or no my rights in this prediciment.
thanks in advance mike.

It is standard for a repair that only the parts repaired are covered by the new warranty.... for another example, if you went into a garage and got the wing mirror replaced on your car and they gave you a 1 year warranty on the repair you couldnt then get them to replace the cam belt if it went a few months later under the warranty for the repaired wing mirror.

What you dont want to do is sign anything that says you consider the repair full and final settlement of your complaint/ say you reserve the right to highlight other issues which occur which you believe are connected to the damage sustained whilst under their duty of care.

Who actually caused the damage is totally inconsequential to you other than to sate your curiosity
