    If you have definitely decided not to proceed (without the parking space and why should you) then simply ignore any correspondence/contact from them. Instruct your solicitor that if they contact him/her then they should be referred directly to you.

    They have messed you about so a bit of quid pro quo is in order unless of course they pull a parking space out of the hat.

    In that case I'd say walk away and find another that has parking. It sounds like it could be a hassle even if you persuade them to sell a space to you as the rest of the spaces could be sold to people other than the residents. If that happens I imagine the parking in that block would be a nightmare.

    "<developer> has advised that they still have some spaces available for purchase, however, they have yet to offer any of the spaces to the private lessees of <name of building> nor the proposed tenants of the Commercial units. The remaining available spaces, including the platforms, will be offered to these parties first, at a price of £20,000.00.

    If there are any remaining spaces or platforms these will then be offered to shared owners at the same price of £20,000.

    I know this is not exactly what you wanted to hear, but at least you now know the score and can make a decision based on this information. I can only apologise for passing on the original information I had, which was in good faith, and didn’t take into account the fact that the developers would change their mind!"
  • 'Commercial units'- where and what [ground-floor shops?] and how many in relation to the flats?

    I'm not sure what they mean by commercial units, I haven't replied to the email because I want to delay things.

    The parking bays are below purely residential buildings that have just been built and there are very few shops on that street.

    If there is no parking, your purchase price should be reduced by 20K.
    That can't be right if the parking bay was extra on top of the purchase price of the property and the additional purchase for the parking space hasn't been agreed.

    Maybe the commercial units refer to the ground floor units which will be let out for retail or other use yet to be decided.

    Another reason not to proceed, you don't want to live above a late night burger bar or Chinese beleive me.....

    Having visited there many times, I can't see a possibility of there being anything commercial inside the building itself, only buildings opposite.
