Is Contents Insurance valid while estate agents have a key?

Our flat is currently on the market to let as we are in the final month of our tennancy.
The landlord has given a key to the estate agents (even though when we discussed this in person we said we would rather be present at viewings).
Does anybody know whether this would invalidate our contents insurance?

Yes, although presumably the insurers are already aware of the fact that you are a tenant, and that there is a landlord, who is in possession of a key, and over which neither you nor they have any control. And so you probably don't have anything to worry about.0 -
You should pose the question to the insurer for conformation.
In general, it would not change the normal terms of your insurance but remember that if you are not a family unit in the property (ie your sharing with friends) then your only covered for theft if there are signs of forced or violent entry into the property. This would still apply which may be a higher risk. I doubt many estate agents have sticky fingers as in the long run its not worth their career but prospective tenants may be more light fingered0 -
Until your tenancy is over you do not have to let anyone into the property if you dont want to, tell the agents they can only enter by prior arrangement when it suits you so you can keep an eye on your property, if need be you can change the barrel of the lock to stop these strangers entering when you are not there.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
