in Credit cards
Hi all,
I have a Halifax credit card that has now been paid off. I no longer have the card as I cut it up and didn't activate it. I rang the customer service number today and tried to close the account. The person at the other end put me through to a different department which ended up being an automated message saying I can't change my rates, goodbye!
It's very frustrating as I don't know what to do now. So my question is do I call them again and pester them until they close the account or do I just do nothing?
Many thanks for your help!

What about ringing again and then see if that helps, try going into the actual bank speak to someone and maybe send a letter of cancellation requesting a confirmation of cancellation hope that helps.. ps well done in paying the card offI AM A MONEY MAGNET, THEY ARE MAKING MORE MONEY FOR ME AS WE SPEAK:pMIKES MOB, DFW NERD 1071, DFW LHS 132!MIRACLES HAPPEN I'VE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. You probably pressed a wrong option along the way.
I closed a Halifax CC over the phone, it was a long automated process but it got there in the end.0 -
The annoying thing is the advisor told me to press that option!! Thanks for your advice i'll give it another shot.Debt free as of 28/11/11 :j

When I closed my Halifax card I wrote to them after failing to get through on the phone! I got a confirmation letter a couple of weeks later.0

CC companies are terrible for this... they'd rather keep your account open just in case. Best bet is to ask for a supervisor NOT a customer retention manager.0
