Anyon ever got refund from Marks & Spencer?

Hi - I am trying to get a bit more savvy with my finances and was going through my credit cards and store cards to list the APRs when i noticed on my Marks and Spencer Charges Card that I am paying payment protection insurance of 75p per £100. I dont ever remember being asked if I wanted this. I have had this card for about 10 years although for long periods of time I have had a zero balance there has also been a significant amount of time that I have had a balance & therefore have been getting charged

has anyone tried reclaim from M&S and if so how easy/difficult were they to deal with

many thanks

Does it matter what other people have? Having PPI is not a problem. It is how it was sold. Now, if there was just one individual selling it then it would matter what others went through as you would expect consistency. However, it doesnt work that way. You can get one bad one many good ones.

What matters is were you or were you not mis-sold it?

Dunstonh - thanks for your "helpful" reply - seriously though what was the point of your post

I was under the impression that a forum was a place to share experiences on common issues and perhaps provide helpful insights.

I am well aware the the issue is around the misselling I was just interested in what experiences other people may have had with this particular organisation regardless of the individual circumstances.

Apologies if that is a concept that is difficult for you to understand.

What is the point of your complaint? Or do you perhaps not have one and are looking to put a fraudulent one in and trying to find out the best way to do it?

I did not make a "complaint" on the forum I simply wanted to hear other peoples experiences if I can refer you to a quote from the Forum etiquette guide "The MoneySavingExpert.com forum is a place to share info and tips with others, discuss MoneySaving and pick up ways to save. " My complaint will be made directly with M&S

I find your insinuation that I am attempting to commit fraud hugely offensive.

So, how does someone with a complaint reason that is different to yours benefit you?

The forum is a place to share info and tips but its not a place to encourage fraud.

Well at the moment it does appear you are fishing for excuses to complain rather than having your own reason. Most people know what their complaint is.

They've said what the complaint is in the first post - '' I dont ever remember being asked if I wanted this''.

The FOS has identified the issue that ''a consumer did not realise they were taking out a policy that they did not actually want'' as being one of the most common grounds for complaint. It then goes on to say ''If you think you may have grounds for a complaint, get in touch first of all with the company you think is responsible. Give them a chance to look into your concerns.''

    http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.uk/publications/factsheets/payment-protection-insurance.pdf

Is that clear enough for you?

And I totally agree with the OP that insinuations of ''fraud'' are completely unacceptable.

That isnt a complaint. That just shows they have forgotten. However, after 10 years of paying it, its funny that its only now that they feel that. Why not 10 years ago when the first payment was made?

    You would.

Having previous statements showing PPI will apply to almost all upheld complaints there has ever been. Therefore it cannot be assumed to invalidate a complaint. Clearly.
