ideas for making money for IVF treatment

Hi everyone, not sure this is the right place to post this lol.

My lovely hubs and I were really lucky to have had 2 NHS funded attempts at IVF sadly they were unsuccessful, so now Hubs and I are trying to super save to be able to afford our next treatment hopefully in Norway next year, Even though it is cheaper than in this country (4k instead of 7k ) we still need to make some money, we don't have access to credit cards and or loans.
Sooooooo any new money making ideas would be really appreciated. We've got a couple of things to ebay so that's a start.

Thanks for taking the time to read :D

Some clinics in the UK will do IVF for free if you agree to Egg share.....maybe something to think about. Not sure its something I could do though.

Good luck with it all though

Ebay the house contents? Or start a small ebay business to fund it?
take a PT evening job if possible and keep ALL the wages/tips for the baby fund.

Egg sharing usually gets at least 50% off your costs or more.. check out the rates of pregnancy at the UK clinics and compare costs it may be cheaper.

Join the TTC 12m+ thread on here.. if you havent already.. I am CERTAIN those fabulous ladies will have loads of info for you.

  • Thanks for the replies, I hadn't really thought about a little ebay business, I'll have a look into that, I'm quite creative so I could come up with something! ;)
As for egg sharing sadly I am unable to do that as I have a hereditary blood thingy called factor V leiden so it would be unfair on the recipient which is totally fair enough although a total bummer for me :(

No advice on the money making side of it sorry.
But agree with Pigpen on coming to join the TTC over 12 months thread, we are all a friendly bunch and can help with the treatment aspect of your post and just give some support. I am on 8 cycles (10 years) and no child so I feel your pain.

Maybe try the Up Your Income board for more monetary help.

Edit to add, I also can't egg share to a clotting disorder and MTHFR.

i read a story in the paper the other day and a couple got IVF paid for from donations from "friends" on facebook. Not sure I would put private info like that on Facebook, but they got a baby girl out of it

  • Just to say whilst your saving don't give up hope.

A member of my family just conceived naturally after three failed IVF attempts. Miracles happen.

  • Yep. Some friends of mine conceived a son via IVF some years ago . They are now expecting their second conceived naturally. Life truly is grand sometimes.

Hartleys has posted elsewhere saying she has no tubes, so while you are right that miracles can happen, it is not appropriate in this case.
