What sort of window is this?

I'm looking to get replacements in this style of window, it's not practical for me to have wooden replacements made, is it possible to get them in pvc and what would they be called?

Plus would it be better to have the upvc window sills to go with it? They're rotten at the moment so need replacing as well.
Thanks

Its a casement window. You can have them in UPVC if you must.

You can either have them make up with the middle verticals inside the Double glazed units which looks really cheep. Or have 6 separate glass units.
You would get the sills done at the same time.

What would be impractical about wood?
  • I had some upvc dg ones made where they stuck the extra bars on the outside which looked a lot better than when they are between the glazing.

But none of them look as good as proper wooden ones, get a carpenter in to fix them and then a decorator to paint them, cheapest and best looking option.

Too rotten to be fixed, I think. Fingers gone straight through the wood, and the sills need replacing as well. It's not just this window, the others at the back are the same so 6 windows in all. I'm not sure I have afford to have them done properly in wood (non standard size) plus the higher windows at the back of the house are a beggar to reach due to being over a glass outhouse so then decorating starts to get expensive as I can't reach them do it myself.

  • Well I assume you will be getting people to give you a quote for new plastic windows so it probably wouldn't hurt to get a carpenter in to give you a quote for repairing them as well.
