Hi, we`ve just sold our house and we`re going the rental route for now.
We just have a couple of questions I hope the forum could shed some light on for us.
1/ Are the rents and fees asked by agents negotiable. .
2/ If agents do negotiate, what is the best way to go about it.

You can always offer what you think it is worth.
I tried that when I sold my house but failed0 -
It is unlikely that the fees will be negotiable but the rent might be. If the rent is offered on a 6 month contract ask if there would be a discount for a 12 month contract. If the property has been unoccupied for a while you are more likely to get a positive response. It also depends on what other similar properties are renting for in your area.
I did this and saved £25 a month. It may not sound a huge amount but over a year it's a £300 saving.0 -
I've negotiated rent with agents before and they have put the offer to the landlord, usually can knock 25 quid off at least.0

We were lucky enough to move when there was a bit of a depression in prices a few years ago. The agent directed us to this house rather than us asking to see it. We liked it but said we didn't think it was worth what they were asking. The agent told us to make an offer so we made a cheeky one expecting to end up somewhere in the middle. The LL accepted it :j.
We wouldn't be able to do it now though - rentals are being picked up really, really quickly at the moment where I live.
No harm in trying!0 -
We have a viewing on Thursday, and if the property suits us, I`ll try and negotiate.
Thanks for the replies; I`ll report back what happens.
