Ideas for financial split on Buy to let partnership

Options
Myself and an associate have discussed partnering on some buy to let properties.

He is in the building trade and I have some money to invest.

I obviously have the most to loose financially and he has the know how.

We havent discussed the financial split yet but I wanted to know if other people have had a similar arrangement and how they worked things out financially.

Some ideas would be great.

Thanks

Two things spring to mind here:
    1. will he have any financial commitment to the project, such as being on the mortgages or bringing any money to the table. If not will his contribution just be his labour costs.because will he be able to commit fully without an income.

    2. If so whats to stop you investing yourself and just paying him or another builder to carry out the works.

A financial partnership where one person brings the skills and one provides the finance is always hard to quantify

    It is difficult.

Has anyone done this in the past?

    What have their arrangements been?
