Yeah but it won't shut...and we'll be here for a good few weeks yet! It's for me as much as anyone else...I may be skint but at least I'm Relentlessly Positive!

The purchase price reflects the age and condition of the house and I assume the estate agents have taken all this into account before advising on price.
I think it is only major structural defects -signs of subsidence or dodgy alterations which could be a concern with a survey.
Don't forget if you've had any alterations or added anything you should have got all planning permissions and relevant paperwork from council. Purchaser's solicitors will always ask for all of these. You can get retrospective permission if necessary if you don't have paperwork but this takes time of course and is costly.0 -
Oooh no, we haven't done anything except put a new bathroom in, and Idon't believe we needed PP for that!
The porch with the dodgy door was added by previous owners 20 years ago, and I have no idea where the docs are, but according to our local searches when we moved, and the Local Authority Planning website, all was present and correct.
The house *is* in good nick but it's taken us so long to get this far that I don't want to mess it up over a small issue. And my sense of fairness means that I'd have fely exceedingly guilty if they'd moved in and been unable to lock the back door - maybe it's just me, and I'm scared of karma!?I may be skint but at least I'm Relentlessly Positive!
