BT - Change of Terms

Can anyone advise before I query with BT:
Have always been with BT for phone line rental and calls. Our calling plan - Unlimited W/end and Evenings (Standard Plan) paying £3 per month so we were not tied in to a 12 months contract.
Everything has been fine with no problems until we received an unsolicited call a few months ago from BT offering us the Anytime plan for the same cost of £3 per month we were currently paying. We were advised that all our T&C would remain the same and this would be confirmed in writing to us. No confirmation was received. When checking My BT a/c on line, the plan had been amended to Anytime but was on a 12 months renewal contract. We immediately emailed BT advising that we wished to revert to our previous plan as the full facts were not disclosed to us. This change was duly carried outas requested.
However, checking our Plan details in My BT, although we have reverted to the Standard Plan Unlimited W/end and Evenings, it is now on a initial 12 months term??? Is this because we are now being treated as a new customer/change of plan or merely a basic mistake?
Can anyone advise? Thanx
