Pork chop in sauce question

I'm a vegetarian and not experienced at cooking meat for people. In an effort to use up what is in the cupboards, I am defrosting OH a pork chop, and there is a jar of pre-made sweet and sour sauce there - dumb question, but how would I go about cooking these together?
Can I put them in an oven dish to cook together? How long would it take approx and what temp?
Thanks. Ready made sauce is foreign territory too, funny what you find at the back of the cupboards though.

I personally wouldn't cook those together, but if you want to use them up then you should probably dice up the chop, pan fry until browned then add the sauce and cook it according to the instructions on the jar. Make sure the pork is properly cooked through (to kill off any nasties) by slicing open the thickest piece - there should be no red or pink in the middle. Does the sauce have any veg in it? You may want to add something like sliced peppers/sweetcorn/mushrooms etc if you have any.
Alternatively, if you have an apple, you can make a nice (super easy) pork chop with apple and serve it with your choice of carbs and veg. Just slice your apple fairly thinly, smear a bit of soy sauce on both sides of the chop (or just use salt and pepper if no soy sauce), put it in a small oven dish (the chop should fit snugly, rather a bit small than too big) and completely cover the chop with apple slices. You can put apple at the bottom too if you like - but don't serve the apple from underneath. Cover with a lid or foil and bake in a medium oven until done, about 15-25 mins. It makes a bit of juice (how much depends on the type of apple) which is nice over mash or can be made into proper gravy if you prefer.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -
I wouldn't waste a whole jar of sauce on one chop. However if you want to cook both together you can. I have done this many times by putting the chop in a dish and covering with sauce and just sticking it in the oven for around 30-45 mins depending on thickness.:A

Thanks for the answers, really helpful. I've no apple, however might do the soy sauce thing and keep the jar sauce for another time when we have more meat to use. Sounds easy enough, I'm just always nervous about cooking meat properly since I'm not used to it, but will make sure to cut it and see.0

A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

have a look at the ingredient list of your sauce - is it veggie friendly? you could cook the pork chop in some of it in a small covered dish and use the rest to cook veg in. saves wasting the sauce! your meat eating friend is happy and so are you.0
