Removals costs, mortgage fees (could be £1K), buildings/contents insurance fees (around £150-£300 combined), utilities/services (eg. phone) connection fees?

Basically, think of a number and double it and you'll be in the right ball-park.
Everyone is entitled to my opinion!

if theres already a phone line in which hasnt been disconnected then the OP shouldnt have to pay a connection fee, i never have

our buildings and contents insurance is 144 per year combined and that is for a 3 bed semi in the south east

mortgage fees could be high but they can be added to the mortgage (which means they cost more over time) but with a 10% deposit he is in a better position for cheaper deals

ive never known of anyone pay for gas and electric connection fees

We would do the removal ourselves as we have done in the past. We have luton vans at work and if you ask nicely they let you borrow them for the weekend. Our phone/ broadband cost £50 to be connected and I dont recall there being any other fee for the utilities.

The stage is being set for a fresh surge in prices throughout the latter half of this decade, perhaps sooner. Start saving fast and get that first property ASAP.

Anyway it will only be the one child lol

i wouldn't count on it, i never planned to have twins :p sometimes these things just happen

we are planning to put aside £5k for fee's house prices are low here so were going for £10k deposit which will hopefully get us 10-15%

lenders have been tighter for a few years now but if you can prove you can afford replayments and have a deposit then someone will lend to you, it's not something we worry about right now besides you have a wee while yet before you need to worry about that
    DEC GC £463.67/£450
    EF- £110/COLOR]/£1000
  • Something like this: http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-30403960.html Is more of what I was looking at. It is in a large council house area which is why it is cheaper and less desirable. I personally do not mind the area.
