If you are doing the parks I would leave July and August well alone. You cant move on them.
We have been in May,Sept and Oct.Which are all good times to go.
Only problem is the kids are in school for these date.
October they have halloween all month which is really good.
Your budget sounds plenty to me.

We could go over the October half term - maybe a week either side - that would give us over a year to save as well.

Is it possible to get tickets for all of the parks, or do you have to get them seperately?

Also I am not keen on driving whilst there - is there any way around that or would we really need to get a car??
  • Im in the middle of organising a holiday for myself and three friends yes, I actually have friends lol in wales.

What has interested me is that although we get on well, and know each other reasonably well, our priorities or our ideas of a holiday are quite different which is posing some problems

One prefers a place where they can explore culture, one want fancy hotel lol, and one wants to lay on the beach all bloody day lol

For me, I just wanna chill but we all have different ideas of what that means in a holiday.

So, what makes a holiday for you?

Did you post this on the wrong thread?
  • Heres what we did. May17th for 2 adults 1 child, 19 nights staying in a villa. £2200.Thats for the villa and the flights to orlando.(if we had done full 3 weeks the flights were dearer because we were coming back in school hols). We didnt get a car because we dont like driving we got taxis everywhere, they cost us about £650.But bear in mind if you had a car you would have to insure it,put petrol in it,and everytime you park your car on the parks you are looking at about 15 dollars each time. As for park tickets look on attraction tickets direct they do a combi tickets which covers disney parks and the universal parks. If you were looking to stay in a hotel on international drive then you can get busses to the parks, and them hotels come cheap enough. have a good shop round for prices though its amazing how much you can save. Oh and you also need to get esta(like a visa thing to enable you to get into America, but whoever you book your holiday with will tell you all this).
  • I have to say a villa is a better option, they are fantastic, own pool etc, chill out in them.
Also if you check out the communitys where the villas are some do a shuttle bus to the parks. We stayed on Windsor Palms and they did a shuttle bus.
Check out which ones do it first though before you book.
  • this is a good quote who have you used.

You can upgrade the dining plan for £10 a day each and that is well worth it I would consider that, we always do.

Do a quote on Monarch I have found them very competative, they also fly into sandford which is our fav airport. We have been ten time in six years you will love it.

Havre a look on Allears.net great source of info.

Hi, planning to go to Disneyland for the first time in August 2012 for 2 weeks - 2 adults and 2 children agd 15 and 11 and have had a holiday quote as follows:

Flying from Manchester to Orlando Sanford
Staying at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - room only
    14 Day ultimate ticket included
Disney Quick (counter) service dining plan included

    Total £5857

Is this a reasonable quote as I haven't got a clue what we should be paying. Have looked at booking everything seperately but too confusing.

    Any advice appreciated.
  • there is a big advantage to staying on disney especially with teenagers they can go off on the bus to the parks and you can have a bit of peace and catch your breth, you will love it

Don't worry about driving especially if you've ever driven on the continent, it's a lot easier. Traffic signs in words rather than cryptic signs, wide roads, clear markings, cheap petrol (well compared to here anywhere). It gives you so much more freedom - it would be a waste to go all the way to Florida and just go to theme parks on shuttle buses, there's so much more to see there...

My best holidays have all been in Florida. We love it there. We've always booked villas, we've had some beautiful ones, mainly just off H 27, about 20 mins drive to the parks. I wouldn't want to stay in a Disney hotel (unless i had an unlimited budget and it was a special occasion) as when you've been at the Disney parks all day, you just want to chill out in your own place with a drink and a takeaway, swimming in your own pool or relaxing in your own jacuzzi whilst the kids watch TV or play games on the Xbox or whatever is there ! Bliss ! There is such a thing as Disney overload !
Driving over there is a doddle (and i'm a single mum !) It's easier than driving here !
We went last year in June (2 adults, 2 kids) for 3 weeks. For Virgin flights, villa rental and car hire, we paid £2900. Then you need to add on Disney and Universal tickets (from undercovertourist.com) and spending money. I know this was outside of school holidays and that in July and August it will be much more. We've also been in the school holidays and yes, it is hot and humid and it rains most days (for about 10 mins!!) but we still love it there. The best villa we've had was at The Shire at West Haven. I use a website called https://www.floridamousehouse.com for our villas, they can also arrange flights for you too.
Can't afford it at the moment but will be back as soon as we can !
We've also done Kennedy Space Centre, Busch Gardens and St Petes and Clearwater, it is a shame if you don't go to other places whilst you're there. If i can drive through Tampa in a thunderstorn at rush hour, anyone can !
