When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Hi everyone  back to work today :( but only 4 days & then I'm off for 2 weeks :j Better get a move on then!

  • [STRIKE]checked banking & cc statement[/STRIKE] - still no cashback...
  • breakfast, lunch & dinner from stores - [STRIKE]banana smoothie fr brekkie using up last of over ripe bananas [/STRIKE]:money:
  • walk to work as working in the office in my home town - saving 40 mins so petrol & clocking up some exercise ;)nope drove :o
  • leave purse at home so won't spend anything ;)
  • go for run & a swim after work - should keep me out of trouble!
  • flylady/packing when I come home
  • prepare what I need for picnic tomorrow night :lovethoug
  • [STRIKE]hang up washing & do last load[/STRIKE] :j (its been about 2 weeks of continual washing to clear the back log we had :o)
  • [STRIKE]marinate chicken for dinner tonight[/STRIKE]
ok so that's me for the days! Happy days everyone x

  • Good morning everyone, and thanks to DNMS for starting us off. It's dull and miserable here today, I just hope it doesn't rain!

    So far:
    • ran DW overnight on Economy 7 (now unloaded too)
    • fed and watered the chickens and boxed up eggs to sell
    • had HM granola for filling breakfast
    • made packed lunches for DH and myself
    • checked for surveys
    • checked banking
    I will also:
    • take motorbike to work as I've had to give my boss' car back :( (well, I did borrow it for "a few days" almost two months ago!!)
    • get paid for eggs
    • keep checking surveys throughout the day
    • knit at lunchtime to avoid the shops
    • work out what to cook for dinner using these overgrown courgettes - getting a bit bored with stuffed marrow now :o
    • get into sewing room for a couple of hours tonight, lots of orders to fulfil :j:j
I will also do something that seems to go against the DFW grain. As you all know very well, I hate my job!! It has me in tears constantly and I feel very unfulfilled as a person having to go there 9 days a fortnight. After much discussion with DH, he has agreed to me dropping my other Wednesday so I do a straight 4 day week.
I will continue to have a Grandma Day on alternate Wednesdays and the other one will be to concentrate on my business, stitching, website writing and visiting customers AND also to be a "proper" OS housewife - baking bread, cleaning, allotmenteering and all the things I don't seem to have time to do, but are part of who I am.

I'm going to chat to my boss today to see if he'll agree, but I can't see there'll be any problem there. I'll lose around £85 pm take home pay, but now DH is working full-time and my loan is paid off I feel it's an important step in the right direction. Fingers crossed for a good result. :)

Here is my list for today:

    • continue to tidy dining room. Bit of a misnomer as never eat in here and sit with my back to the mess when using the PC. So far have emptied all the cupboards, drawers and now have to tidy and sort it all back into place. MS because have found lots of spare change!
    • slow cooker beef chilli about to get underway, all meals on meal plan
    • bread out of breadmaker, smells lovely, used barleycorn flour
    • take 3 bags of assorted things to charity shop
    • use new pomodoro timer (£1.70 aldi) for 25 minute blasts of action (and then 5 min break :D)
    • have checked bank etc and all as expected
    • washing on, just about keeping up with the hokey cokey
    • do some exercise, minimum walk to local shops, might break out the dvd I found yesterday and do some leaping round room ( would scare children though)
    • record all eating and exercise on myfitnesspal ,trying to get a grip on reality so being very honest
    • Get appointment for hair cut possibly colour?
Am on leave this week so hope to get some organisation back after summer chaos before order returns with the pattern of school days and boys football training etc

    Good to be back :j

PS have never got the hang of posting pics on here; my url links are from Picasa, anyone know how to make them work please?
    Getting there...slowly! :D

    GC : must do better
    NSD: very rare

No matter how slow I go I am lapping everyone on the couch.
