Landlord Insurance

Is the landlord responsible for the building insurance and the tenant responsible for the contents??? my friend has an issue with her landlord and was wondering if anyone could help?

Comments

  • Your friend is responsible to cover her own belongings in a rented property, this is often a condition of the tenancy but if it is not then it is up for your friend to decide if she wants it. She does not have to cover any of the LL's property if it is a furnished rental.

The LL should have buildings insurance as this is a condition of a mortgage.

Can you give us details on the specific issue?
