wanting to move to wales..

Options
hello, I am looking for a bit of advice..

my wife and I have decided that we would like to have a complete change and are really thinking of moving to wales.

however, we are pretty much clueless as to go about it.

we currently rent privately in the west midlands, recieve housing benefit...

would it be a matter of finding accomodation in wales and then transferring the claim of HB or would we have to shut down this claim and then claim again once we got there?

many thanks for any replies :)

You also may have problems finding private rentals who will accept LHA/HB tenants. You may be the best, most reliable and trustworthy tenants ever, but many LLs run a mile from benefit tenants, especially now rules have changed and payments are no longer made direct.
  • You will have to end you claim with your current Local Authority and start a new one with the LA once you have moved.

How you find a rental property with a landlord who is willing to accept tenants on benefits is another issue altogether. Unless you have several month's-worth of rent tucked away somewhere and/or a guarantor you're going to find it very, very difficult indeed.
