Raffle my house?

Ages ago, maybe over a year ago there were threads about a house which was being raffled, does anyone have any information on this? I know you stipulate if £xxx,000 isn't raised then the draw is for the money raised minus legal & advertising costs.
Any information, opinions on how much you'd be willing to stake on a ticket?

ive just been communicating with a seller on ebay who is doing this at the moment, he says at £1 a picture (apparently he has to sell pictures with a number on as tickets are not allowed
) and he estimates with the sales so far he will sell all his by the end of the year, so 18 months of selling, with adds on ebay, other auction sites, free add sites, local papers windows etc,
he has stated that the sale will continue untill all lots are sold, he has added more on top to cover everything from fees, stamp duty, etc so the winner's only outlay is the purchase of the picture(ticket).
he has stated his solicitor will do the drawer.
his house is stated as being worth £400,000 and tickets to be sold 500,000 i think it was,
have a look on ebay the offer is still open.0 -
There was one in Kent last year, it was called https://www.winahouseforafiver.com but I've just put that in and it brings up an ipod you can win for a fiver!
It wasnt much of a success, in the end the prize money was £70,000 so no-one won the house!0 -
Thanks for the replies, I knew I'd heard about it but never the outcome. I thought it may be a quick way to dispose of property but I guess I'll have to keep practicing being patient

This seems A interesting way to sell a house. But less say the house up for sale is worth 100 thousand.
You Will need to Sell 2000 raffle tickets at £50 each
Just to cover the house value not including the cost of all advertising.
IT dont seem a too much of a challenge but how many people are willing to put £50 down on the chance of winning a house worth £100,000 At 2000 to 1 chance of winning.
At least you will have a greater chance than winning the lottery.
I think this crazy idea may just work if you did a mass advertising campaign in something like the sun. Evening if you spend £20000 advertising and sold 3000 tickets it would of paid off.
Of course you will need the money in the first place to pay the advertising costs and legal fees.0 -
I was thinking of £2 each for a raffle ticket, the smaller the price more people will want to get involved, I'd never spend £50 on a raffle ticket. I found details of someone in Chester who raffled tickets at £100 each - didn't sell many!
Who would want to buy my £2 tickets? People desperate to get on the housing ladder, people with no chance of getting on the property ladder anytime soon, people may see it as a win to let income generator, it would be ideal for letting.
I'm a bit shy though & woudn't like the publicity as mr mini pointed out that may be a problem!

Pulling up an obsolete post from 4 years ago probably won't endear you to anyone though. Please check the dates of the post before replying, thanks.0
