Hi im trying to organise a trip to london for a friends birthday Checking in 13th oct departing 16th. The main purpose of the trip is to see wicked and warhorse. There will only be the two of us so would like a 'safe' area and as we have never been to London we would like to be quite close to the theatre although any suggestions are more than welcome. Can anyone recommend a decent theatre break deal? Or hotel even where to get tickets although I saw on other threads re buy on the day I would like it all organised as this is a special trip many thanks everyone :j (I think possibly going by train and we have a budget of £600 for two)

Hi,
My advice would be to choose a hotel in central London (underground zone 1/2). Most hotels are within easy walking distance of tube station and it's convenient for most of the sightseeing attractions, shopping and theatres etc.
War horse is on at the New London Theatre (closest tube Covent Garden/Holburn)
Wicked is on at the Apollo Victoria Theatre (closest tube Victoria)
You could do this trip for significantly less than you budget. But it depends on you preferences regarding hotels (star rating) and preferences regarding theatre seating. I organised a similar trip for my sister's birthday. I booked hotel through www.laterooms.com ( via topcashback website) and tickets through www.seetickets.com.
Since you haven't been to London before, I would buy yourself an A-Z and pick up an underground map at the station when you arrive.0 -
we stayed at the royal national just down from euston station very noisy hotel and i wouldnt recommend it ... its about a 20 min walk from war horse ( saw that show last week) ... previous to that we stayed in the strand palace i felt that was much more central for things tbh and although it was more expensive i would go back there again ... it's just in front of covent garden so its maybe a ten min walk to see war horse from there ( maybe 15)0
