So you get paid your normal salary for a 8.45 - 5.20pm workday, get sent home 20 minutes early ON PAY totalling in 3 weeks 300 minutes or 6hrs and you're complaining because you are being asked to work one Saturday in three for the time you've already been paid for? How are you doing it for free?
We're told to go early at work sometimes. Do you mean that in a year's time when my contract comes to an end they can say that I have to work the last week or so for free because of the times they let me go early?

    You do talk utter bunkum!

My boss makes me a cup of tea every second morning.

You can imagine my shock when she tried to invoice me for 12 months at £2.50 a cup!

I dont think its fair they told you to go home early and then afterwards decide you need to work another day!

I would just say you want to stay til 5.20pm from now onwards.

I dont think the argument that the OP is salaried is relevant to be honest. If I had to work 1 in 3 Saturdays I would be miffed as well, they will have the additional commuting costs not factored in . I am contracted to work 5 days out of 7, not 6 every third week (although I always put in way more than my contracted hours I hasten to add, before anyone attacks me for not living in the real world :P)

Nor is it always the OPs fault if they didnt get a lunch break. In a small team, it is very likely that they couldnt just stop what they were doing.

That all said, if the employer wants to force this change through, with the correct number of holidays etc, and with the correct process followed, then they will do. I guess an informal chat with the employer expressing the concerns is the starting point. You never know, they may just be looking at it differently - or it might indeed be about survival of the company.
