Trying to get an entry date from Builders - Advice appreciated!

Hi there,
My girlfriend and I have paid the deposit on a new build flat in Scotland. We have got our mortgage in place and everything should be ready to get transferred across.
The only thing holding us back now is getting a definate entry date from the builders. They had initially told us about a year ago that it was scheduled to be Nov/Dec 2006, however, this was obviously not met. People who were due in October only got the keys to their flat in December so we know they are running behind. However, every time we phone their sales staff we are told a ball-park figure end of Jan, possibly start of Feb. Never get anything definate from them.
Can any who has had experience in buying a new build suggest anything we could do to put pressure on them so that we can get some sort of date from them.
my gf phoned yesterday and girl said she was unsure about entry date and that a member of their customer care team would phone us to let us know. I get the impression they are just fobbing us off to get us off the phone.
Should I try contacting their head office and see if they could escalate the matter from there?
Thanks in advance for any advice given
Marc

I was in the exact same position three years ago (though in N.Ireland). I nagged nagged nagged nagged...and only ever got fobbed off. It was a case of sending faxes and phoning up as often as I could. I also developed a habit of dropping by and chatting to the site foreman at every opportunity I possibly could.
They didn't give me a definite date until two days before I moved in :eek::eek:. However I was ahead of the other new householders in the development by about two months. It wasn't ideal, but the builders did respond to the constant pressure I was putting on them, they just didn't bother to give me any firm date. The excuse they offered for that was that they were reliant on contracters to do their bits of the work, and if they gave me a date which the contracter subsequently failed to ahere to, then they would have misled me.
It was very stressful....I'm never going to buy new ever again ever in my entire life ever....0
