Regarding Tescos substitutions, it is completely in the control of whoever picks your shopping and what is available 'at the time of picking'. There are no guidelines (other than not being able to give people 'value' products) on what to give other than give the same product in a larger/smaller pack or a similar type of product.

When you get substitutions they are listed at the top of your invoice, and the delivery man should point the items out to you on delivery - they are in carrier bags which are turned inside out!! If you are not happy with any of the substitutions just return them with the driver )

I must say though, that I think there is no pleasing some people LOL All the pickers are assessed on their picking speed and on the number of substitutions given (which is really out of their control) and also by customer complaints. We are able to see on our monitors what the complaints were.

I had one a couple of days ago were a customer ordered amongst other things own brand kids drinking yogurts and a pack of own brand chicken thighs. Neither of those were available and so I gave the kids munch bunch drinking yogurts and a pack of chicken thighs and drumsticks as a replacement - the customer thought they were 'unsuitable substitutions' and then rang up and complained LOL!!

If your not happy with having substitions you can request 'no substitute' on your order, and you can also put notes to your picker on what to give if a certain item is unavailabe.
