Hi
My car has broken down which means I have to do my shopping online(I tend to spend less that way as there are no impulse buys)
I am tempted to try out Ocado espeically because there is a £15 off £90 shop code floating around, however they are slightly, just slighty more expenseive. But on the otherhand they can deliver before I leave out to go to work thus I should recieve fresh produce.
Tesco and Asda don't start deliveries until 10 so I have to choose an evening delivery thus more goods will be out of stock, but of course they are cheaper.
Question: Is it worth the slight extra to go with Ocado? I have heard great things about them. My last shop with Asda didn't turn up and they never got back to me.
What shall I do?

Hiya
I'm a dot.com picker for Tescos, and just to let you know that all orders are picked before 2pm so it will not make a bit of difference if your order is for the evening (frozen goods are frozen, and chilled are chilled etc).0 -
Hi me4bargains
I'd sign up with www.mysupermarket.co.uk as they are excellent in clearly comparing like for like products, brand named or otherwise. If you sign up with all the online supermarkets, using mysupermarket, you can import all your favourites in to do direct comparissons of your virtual shopping list from all the supermarkets, which I find particularly helpful from week to week as offers and bargains change on rotation. Also, Tesco offer cheaper delivery on Tues & Weds @ £3.99.
Finally, just a heads up; I was told that when you receive a delivery from Tesco, they put all substitutions into an inside out carrier bag so that you can check them immediately when the driver is still there, and choose to either accept or refuse them. Well, colour me stupid MSE's, but I didn't realise this and was told when I called the customer care line, that 'all of our customers know this'! I did of course query where this was written and how I was supposed to just know, but the operator just bumbled through the convo and said rather abruptly, 'well now you know'! :rotfl:
Anyhoo, hope this helps.OGB - Queen of Bling baby...:A0 -
For what it's worth we had been shopping online with ASDA for about 6 months with reasonable success. Slight annoyances in ridiculous alternative items and not very reliable with delivery times. Quite often late and almost alway at the end of the slot when on time. Recently had an order not turn up after an hour after slot. They called to say there was a breakdown and might be "up to 2 hours late" 4 hours later called them back - no food. Eventually got a call back saying the van had arrived back with our shopping still on it so we'd have to wait until the next night. Cue much arguments about having waited all day already. Next night didn't turn up either. Made endless calls to branch duty manager and main customer services which were unreturned or hung up. Had to chase them for a refund as they needed a "reason as to why we wanted a refund" (this was now 4 days after it was supposed to be dleivered) etc.. etc..
We've refused to use them since and have been shopping with Tesco (for a month or so) which I must say has been far superior in every department. Staff are friendlier, delivery is much more reliable, order is more accurate, replacements are sensible I would STRONGLY recommend Tesco over ASDA in my experience (although I realise everyone's experience is different). Only thing is Tesco charge a little more for delivery but there are plenty of codes available for discounts/free delivery so shouldn't make a huge difference.

If i could i'd go with waitrose just for one time!
We don't get asda or waitrose here! So i've just done a tesco after your prompting (ty).
Not using sainsburys for a while as they broke a bottle of whiskey in my delivery, didn't bother to tell me, even though we could smell the alcohol all over some things, and didn't bother to replace it, but still charged me for it! Then took several emails to them before they actually acknowledged my complaint and sent a poxy £5 voucher for my troubles! Even though the bottle had cost £4.77, and i'd spent an hour on their help line trying to get through!
on the other hand tesco's have sometimes been rubbish with their substitutions, though this seems to have improved with time.:rudolf:0 -
We've used Waitrose for a couple of years now. They charge £5 for delivery .... but we live about 10 miles from the nearest store so it is money well spent (and no impulse buys either!). The food is excellent quality, you can say on the website if you want items substituted and if you order something that doesn't appear right, like 10 kilos of carrots(!) they do phone you to check. The deliveries always turn up on time .... and when they have phoned us, because a driver is off sick etc, to rearrange a delivery time they usually send a bottle of wine as a thank you. If any items delivered are not up to scratch a quick email usually has a refund in the post. Highly recommended!
We did try Ocado last week, as they have just started delivering where I live (they too deliver Waitrose's goods). Although delivery is free we found that there were a few items that they don't stock, so we've switched back to Waitrose..0 -
We have tried Tesco, Sainsburys and Ocado. Ocado's service was by far the best and definitely worth it considering the vouchers. In my opinion Sainsburys cam 2nd and Tesco 3rd. Haven't tried Asda yet.0

Id go with Ocado or Waitrose home delivery.
With ocado they have 1hr slots. If they are late they let you know. The drivers are very polite and problems are solved quickly,
One example was a missing or broken item. One email to customer services and normally within 24hrs the money has been refunded.
Food is quality and the odd random gift is offered by a promo email code. We got a box of Duchy expensive chocolates for free (no idea why)!!
Give it a go!!_____________________________________________

I've been using Tesco online about a year now. Must say deliveries are a bit hit and miss. Delivery slots are for a 2-hr window, yet most times delivery has been just within the time frame. Items ordered have mostly been ok, although on 2-3 occasions the odd thing has been missing and the ice-cream was off once but to be fair that could've happened if bought in-store.
My main gripe is that 3 times over this amount of (relatively short) time, I have had deliveries cancelled because of breakdowns, and a couple of late deliveries too.
I must say the customer service (online and on phone) more than compensates for the mishaps - refunds are prompt and staff polite and efficient.
Would love to try Asda but they don't deliver in my area.0 -
Been using Tesco for about two years. A few teething problems to begin with, but find that the system works really well now. have tried Asda, but the Tesco web site is far better, especially for changing your order at the last moment, but generally easier to use and faster in y experience.0
