Do you connect the camera to the PC with a USB lead?

Which operating system do you use?

Are you using the camera maker's software to copy/move the pictures?

If your computer has a card reader it's usually easier to use it to cut and paste the pictures straight off the memory card onto your computer.

Another vote for using a card reader.

Might be worth buying a cheap USB one if the computer doesn't have its own.

    HI
    Thanks for the replies
Yes I use a USB lead, and it goes via motion browser or something like that?
I may look into a card reader-sounds more simple! I dont think my computer has one installed, its pretty old.....

Still having problems, how much will a card reader cost to install? How does it work as I have never heard of them. I have been playing about with my camera( Sony cybershot) thinking its that but still no better, and when I try uploading via my usb the computer shows a mesg 'cannot find the file C/mydocuments/mypictures/31082011.

    Any help?

Check for prices, but one option is a USB card reader which you can use with any USB enabled computer

The amazon product user reviews are worth looking at even if you do not buy it from there

Any of the card readers helpfully linked by santer should do the job.

The likes of Tesco and ASDA also sell cheap ones in-store if you don't fancy buying online.

I would buy one on the end of a short cable, easier if you have other USB devices because the width of the reader can foul the socket next to it.

You simply push the card into the reader, plug the reader into a USB socket, and it should come up as an icon on your desktop.

Open that, and you will be able to drag your pics to wherever you want them.

It's a safer and more efficient way of data transfer anyway, pic files can be corrupted using a cable, particularly if the camera's battery conks out while you are doing it.
