Insurance question....

Hi.
Quick question regarding insurance.
I recently applied for a new insurance policy. I gave them info saying i had 4 years no claims which is true. The last year of the no claims was built up on my ex partners car which we swapped because hers was cheaper for me to insure as i had lost my job (We sent logs books off too changing registered keepers etc so it was above board). We just recently swapped back cars and swapped the documents back over too.
Now when i filled out the insurance application, i put that i purchased the car x amount of years ago which i did. The insurance have written me a letter querying why their checks show the last years no claims being on a different car to the one i have insured.
I think they are gonna try to charge me an admin fee because i put my car in and they are expecting me to have put the ex's car in. Does that make sense?....lol
Can they do this..? I mean legally speaking i have owned this car for 4 or so years even when we changed documents. The documents only state who the registered keeper is and not the owner.

You need to explain to them the ownership history as well as your NCD history so they can see how you have these discrepancies.0
