New week, so I have lots of good intentions
(lets hope I adhere to them!)
Now: I have bought the ingredients to make some HM Laundry Powder (tried the gloop once, but heaved at it's "snot" value - yes, I know, call me Wimpo!).
Then: Have always sworn by a brand named powder - let the experiment begin!
Now: Need to do a thorough clear out of the wardrobes; debutton/dezip anything too bad - charity shop the rest - then, I'm off to Primark/Matalan/Pea****s to see what's available/prices to make a list for any spring renewals needed.
Then: Would have visited more costly places
Now: On the look out for molds to make HM easter eggs
Then: Shop bought small eggs LARGE packaging!
Now: Assertively encouraging dh to sell his heavy cost car in part exchange for a smaller/cheaper to run model via part exchange!
Then: Would have felt the subject too "macho" to vocalise my opion.
Good luck this week, don't forget to share what you are doing - even if it's something you do without thinking about it - this is as much about acknowledging your endeavours as it is about trying new things!

Ooh Rose .... so glad to see you have also found the benefit of a local butcher. Don't forget to ask if he has any beef bones - often, they'll give them to you - so you can make a stock and use for slow cooking, gravy or soup!Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

Here's my list from the weekend & plans for this week :
Now : ran out of shower gel so sorted out bathroom cupboard & found 14 bottles of gel & bubble bath, 5 bottles of shampoo, 5 bars of soap, 3 tubes of toothpaste & a bowl ful of sample size bottles & sachets!
Then : Would have run to corner shop & payed over-inflated price for minimal choice.
Now : Sorted out cupboard in spare room & listed good stuff for sale on ebay & Amazon. Rest will go to a car boot sale next month & anything leftover will go to a chairty shop.
Then : Would have left it all at nearest charity shop without trying to re-sell first.
Now : Went to charity shop & had a good rummage in their 50p bin & found 9 items of new/like new baby clothes
Then : Would have probably gone to mothercare or similar
Now : Looked at lovely website of maternity clothes & fell in love with a skirt but didn't buy it when I reminded myself that I hate skirts anyway & it was only going to be good for a few months.
Then : Would have cheerfully ordered it without thinking about it.
Now : Made A Saturday night "special" meal of Mexican Casserole & garlic bread followed by stawberries mostly from reduced price/value items.
Then : Saturday night was always takeaway night.
Now : Go to Tesco & buy picnic lunch items & snacks for trip to Yorkshire on Wednesday
Then : Would have stopped at dreadful motorway services.
Now : Sent Mum a e-card for mothers day & promised her pressie is something for her to look forward to when I see her. (Only works if you have a like minded mum!)
Then : Would have posted tacky over-priced card & inappropriate present as it was more important I get her something than wait for the right thing.Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -

This is the recipe: (which I got from http://www.thefrugalshopper.com/articles/detergent.shtml )
Powdered Laundry Detergent
1 Cup Grated Fels Naptha Soap (<---- I'm going to be using some old soap ends which would normally be thrown away)
1/2 Cup Washing Soda
1/2 Cup Borax
For light load, use 1 tablespoon. For heavy or heavily soiled load, use 2 tablespoons.
My measuring cup is an old beaker and I shall be storing it in the old well known brand box~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Gonna sound a bit thick here - washing soda - is that those soda crystals,
trying to cut down on my cleaning bills - not the cleaning - and washing powder is one of my bigger expenses.

then: would have taken mum for lunch and or dinner and a movie / theatre / concert for mothers day, expensive inappropriate card and probably expensive box of chocolates
now: took her for fish and chips in the car and a walk along the beach (its what she wanted to do!) got arty friend to make a card and bought a bar of high quality plain choc which she adores (and it was reduced!!) and spent some quality time together (ugh that sounds so cheesy but its true)
then: would have filled freezer up with ready meals in panic
now: have used slow cooker to prepare ready meals of my own to freeze and use as part of a mean plan
then: would have paid to have the car serviced prior to long road trip
now: have topped up the oil and water and checked all the pressures myself
then: would have booked hotels along the way and probably have flown or got train
now: have arranged to stay / met up with with friends and have planned my route myself to drive through england, wales, scotland and ireland
then: would have set off on a journey completely unprepared and buying petrol and drinks from expensive service stations
now: have a fairly good idea of where the low cost places for fuel are along the route and also have supplies planned for the car already
then: would have paid for someone to come and look after my cats every day
now: have installed mother as official resident cat sitter
of course the biggest difference for me is that I no longer 'work' - when I was in full time work I really felt as though I didnt have the time to spend thinking about soaking beans to put in my slow cooker for chilli. of course, now I realise I do and always didBlah0 -

Not thick at all (It's an American 'recipe' and they do have a tendancy to call things by a different name). Yup, it's washing soda crystals.
Cullumpster - haven't tried it yet - I'm waiting for the lads to grate the soap heels tonight (<--- I'm a slave driver) Will be having a go tomorrow because I'll have their footie kits to wash, so it'll be a real test of how the HM stuff matches up. I'll keep you informedHaving said that though, I already use soda crystals for pre soaking heavily soiled items and that works a treat - plus, borax is an old fashioned multi-purpose cleaner and laundry aid so I'm very optimistic.
