Any one installed Solar Panels
does anyone have any experience of installing solar panels in their home? This is something we are considering and was wondering what the average costs would be and how much you really save and potentially earn from the "feed in" tariff which i think is when any unused energy goes back into the grid:o
Also any absolute cowboys out there to be avoided at all costs?
thanks

We have just completed our domestic solar PV installation. We selected UKSolarPanels.com because they offered professional upfront advice and didn't apply any sales pressure. Our installation is a 4kwp (16 panel) system and it is anticipated to save us £225 per year in electricity costs and generate an income (from the Feed-in Tariff) of £1,558 per year.
The return on our investment is expected to be 14.4% (we live in Devon and so benefit from high levels of solar irradiation).
The Feed-in Tariff payments are made quarterly and are free of tax.
Investing in solar was an easy decision for us!0 -

You really should be getting quotes of savngs like that these days.
The official line (coming into line with the very unofficial line on these boards over the last year) is that the average saving will be around £75, so some more, some less, depending on lifestlye, but largely independent of the system size or location.
It's been discussed to death on why that is the case on several other threads.0
