Just got back from the local country park - a weekly treat for Big Dog as not only does she get to paddle in a reservoir and sniff 17 million different blades of grass but she also gets to be chauffered in the car and pretend she's royalty.
Anyway we potter along our selected route (she's 14, this route used to take us 30 mins - nearer an hour these days) and she's ignored a few dogs but then her head is up, her neck is extended, her ears are pricked up and she looks mildly intelligent. I scan round expecting to see a border collie (she has a "thang" for collies - no idea why - she's boxer/rottie cross)
But nope, no collies just a very large (and ageing) newfoundland dog. So she starts dancing for him, he perks up and me and his owner have a giggle and decide as we are both normally forced to conduct our dog walking at a speed that would have a hearse overtaking us we might as well walk together - cue two very happy dogs, galloping around as if they are pups (please bear in mind when I say gallop I don't actually mean there's any speed with it - it's a bit like watching slow motion jogging)
So we get back to the car parking area and Big Dog decides she wants to go home with her new found newfoundland love and watches as his owner opens the car door and he jumps in and she then promptly barges past the owner and joins him in the car. Cue much embarrassment on my part, roars of laughter from the other owner and Big Dog virtually having to be dragged out of the car. Even then, she didn't want to leave and I actually had to put her on her lead to get her focus back on me and get to our car.
So we're now back at home and she won't eat her bonio, just keeps nudging it with her nose - do you think she's lovesick?

No fool like an old fool? Quite sweet though, (unless you're the exasperated owner.)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

In that case then, I am a horrible, horrible person!
Fickle creature she is, this morning she was back to flirting with a collie! I think the holiday romance may be over.0
