I dial into a clients server at work, I need to be able to print various documents etc to a network printer located in our offices. How do I install my network printer onto the clients network server in order that I can print? Any help would be most appreciated.

Do you mean that you remote control a server, if so, using which software?
A straight vpn link should use your local printer.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
Yes, remote control a server via SonicWALL Global VPN Client software, I have no local printer attached?0

If you are using Terminal Services / Remote Desktop and the client printer redirection is enabled on the remote server AND your client is set to forward local printers AND the remote server has the relevent driver installed on it , then any installed local printers (including network ones ) on your client *should* appear as a printer within your RDP session.
The Sonicwall client connects you to the network , but what about actually connecting to the server ?0 -
I am using their sage accounts to connect to the server?? sorry network understanding poor0

ah - that does complicate things a little ( mainly because whenever I hear the word Sage , my brain switches off
) Is this a local install of sage on your PC that points to data thats stored on the remote server. Or do you open an application on your machine that allows you to 'see' the remote server and then open sage within that ?

I connect to their server via the remote desktop, the sage program and data is stored directly on their server. I have my on sage login to access on their server0

Brilliant , in which the first bit of advice I gave is the path you must follow.
You need to make sure that within the remote desktop program on your PC , you click options , then put a tick in 'printers' under the 'Local Resources tab.
Connect to the server and it will attempt to map your network pritners to the remote desktop session.
If that doesn't work then you'll need to install the printer drivers for your network printer onto the remote server ( speak to the remote peoples IT support for this)

Just looked at, appears Printer option is already ticked. Unfortunately there support is about as good as mine.
Thanks for all your input

There is also an option on the server in Terminal Service configuration to block printer redirection. You might also want to check the system event log on the remote server to see if it has any error messages as to why it can't map your printer ( it will most likely be the driver )0
