Best Bath Mat suggestions please

Hi all,

Please could you recommend some good quality bath mats? Mine after a number of years need replacing and I would like some that'll last and stay as nice as possible after washing! Obviously I haven't got alot to spend but am willing to pay a bit extra if it means they last and wear better if you know what I mean ;)

Thanks for any suggestions :)

A number of years??? I have to buy new ones at least every six months - but I do suffer from cleanliness and hygiene OCD!

  • I recommend all cotton for absorbency and go for as thick a pile as possible for much the same reason. A trip round the stores feeling the goods will tell you that there is quite a bit of difference. Brand does not matter with this one

I've had mine for a number of years...but there are 4 of them, all cotton, (can't be doing with that rubber backing) get rotated and thrown into the washer when they're all dirty.

Couple of them were from Ikea, one from asda and one from something like B&M bargains, they all wash really well and look like new when clean. None of them cost more than £8.

I have several thick cotton ones which I chuck in the wash every few days. They arent rubber backed.

My current ones are from BHS, I have 3 sets and rotate, all have washed well. There's only me so they have lasted a while but rather stupidly I bought one set that was cream and after a number of hair dying sessions and just general use they have now seen better days :)

I like my microfibre bath mats. Fully washable, light-weight, never smell.

I had mine from Lakeland years ago, but they've stopped stocking them. Try Scotts of Stow:http://www.scottsofstow.co.uk/Microfibre-Bath-Mat/Product1_22051_-1_52578_10551

I always but the bath mat down AND another towel on top, so most of the water goes onto the towel. That towel then goes into the wash as normal.
I also always hang up the bath mat and foot towel after use to dry out and keep the floor clear and clean.
  • I bought mine for a pound in Ikea a few years ago, it gets washed in the washing machine and is still in excellent condition! Before that we had a big long pile type from John Lewis that aged after a year or so and we had to throw it out. I'm impressed with this Ikea one, I think as it's erm, woven (?) it has kept very well. It is still soft, not hard, under foot but isn't as "cosy" as our old one, but then I like that it's not fluffy on my wet toes!

Admittedly there's only 2 people living in this house, not a large family.

Ikea Toftbo - I've had a couple for a few years now and they wash up fine. :)
