  • hi sorry not been on for a while. that seems like a bit of a result with bos least the calls have stopped and you got the 25 quid! hopefully they will look at your offer of payment now and get back to you within the next few weeks if not i would write again and keep making some token payments till then to show a willingness to pay. They are definately one of the worst creditors .i have had interest stopped interest started reduced interest etc etc with my credit card debt with them since march. every month my statement comes through with something different on it they are useless i wish they would just default me and sell it on!! sorry for the rant!!

good luck in your debt free journey

  • It's best to discuss it on the phone with them, don't wait for letters, every day that goes by you're incurring more interest and charges will be building up as well. Just call them, explain the situation and ask for some help and advice. It'll be sorted in 15 minutes tops.

Well BOS have accepted a payment plan for the next 6 months , that includes a freeze on any intrest and charges which is a good start with a review to follow in July .

Now i know they can take money from any other accounts that i hold with them to pay off my debt BUT can they take money from my wifes account which is in her name only ?

    thoughts please ?
  • Hi, I just saw this post as I googled the above number to see who it was who called me. I'm plastering this message all over the internet as I did a bit of digging. Just thought you should know so you don't panic when you see this number come up. It's not who you think it is. I have no idea who they really are, or what they're up to, but they're not Halifax or Lloyds.

THIS NUMBER IS NOT HALIFAX OR THE LLOYDS BANKING GROUP. I PHONED THEM TO CONFIRM. I DON'T KNOW WHO IT IS OR WHAT THEY WANT. I WOULDN'T PHONE THEM BACK JUST IN CASE.

I had a call from this number on my mobile. There was a lady there with an accent I didn't recognise. She did give me her name, and said she was from Halifax regarding my personal account. I used to have an account with Halifax, but I shut it down about a year ago, but I do still have a joint account with my husband, that isn't used and has been unused for about four months now. She asked for my Name, birth date and PREVIOUS address as security questions. Weird. I gave them to her and she said she needed my updated address. I gave her the new postcode thinking this was daft as Halifax have been sending our post to our new address. When I asked her why she was asking me for this information the line went dead.

I thought it was odd, so I went to call Halifax from my landline to confirm all this. Even more weirdly, and I must have answered the phone just as it rang, as there was already another person on the line - from "Halifax" again. Once again, no name given but he said he was calling from Halifax to discuss my personal account. Again he asked me to confirm my security details, and instead I told him I was going to hang up and call Halifax back.

I did just that, and the man I spoke to checked all the 0845 numbers Halifax/BOS/Lloyds use, and they say they have no record of this number. This number is not the Lloyds banking group, or halifax or anyone else associated, so I'd be extremely cautious. Hopefully I will be ok, as I only gave out security questions that anyone with half a brain could find out - nothing too personal like account numbers, pin numbers etc, and they asked for my old address. Just be wary. Don't give them anymore information. Hang up and call the real Halifax/Lloyds/HBOS if you're worried.

I really hope you get all your problems sorted. Debt sucks. I've been there and got it sorted before. CCCS are amazing. They really helped me. Stick to your guns and yes, they shouldn't phone you - they should write to you. Another reason not to phone that number.

Take care, and I hope this is helpful.
