Putting utility area in garage

Hi,

We are interested in buying a house which has a tandem garage. We were thinking of getting a plumber to put a water line into the garage, so we can plumb in the washing machine and a sink, plus worksurfaces etc to create a separate utility area.

Not sure if its relevant, but the garage is next door to the kitchen.

Other than getting quotes is there anythng else we need to consider with this? Are there any implications in relation to planning etc?

We want to know if it will be worth any potential pain?

Dunno, but from experience most modern appliances don't like cold and damp so need replacing more often.

Oh and whoever is doing the loading and unloading of the washer etc will not like going into a cold garage in the middle of winter to do it, but if it is the only place for them then.........

Watch out for frost. Top grade lagging on the pipes, plus isolating valves inside the house. Preferably route the pipes so that they can be drained by opening the sink taps.
