I've fallen in love with this dress http://www.weddingdressonlineshop.co.uk/tea-length-wedding-dresses/1239-organza-strapless-a-line-short-style-beach-wedding-gown-wh-0044.html and at £92.00 comes within my £150 budget.
I have looked at a few shops close to me and their hiring costs are too much for me and limited budget, so I couldn't afford to do that. However I think if you love a dress and it is cheaper to hire it then I wouldn't see that as a waste of money.
Have you found a dress? If you post it on here then we can have look around the internet and see if we can spot it cheaper? You might have missed something?
hi just making sure that you know that dress will be a copy of that photo thats why its so cheap x
I am not bossy I just have better ideas:p

And how I can afford it :j, I just love it! it is sooooooo me!
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....
  • A friend of mine found her wedding dress in a charity shop. The bridal shop hadn't sold it (it was a sample dress) so gave it to the shop. She bought it for £60 (RRP £850!) and is getting is dry cleaned for £30 and to make matters even better, it fits perfectly.

So if you're looking to cut back on costs, have a look around a few charity shops cos you never know what you can find.
Planned our wedding, still planning lessons

    Thanks
I haven't found a dress yet - but infact I'm going dress shopping for the first time tomorrow! I'm booked into two shops, one which looks quite reasonable, the other very expensive. the thinking behind it is that I'll be able to try on a good range and have great service so I get a good idea of what style I'm after, before being able to hunt down on a bargain by other means!! Although it does look hiring could be out :(

I will def let you know when I've found a style I like to see if all your expertise can find it much cheaper!

what would you do if you pop in your spare room and admire your dress--- you cant do that if you hire one---- nearly 6 weeks on i am still looking, feeling my dress, i love it- and cant imagine not having it there!!

dresses dont have to be thousands!mine was £250!

I know it sounds daft but that's just not me :meh: and even if we did, I don't have the space to store it so it would have to go to my inlaws to be put in the attic immediatly.

Saying that, it does look like hiring isn't an option, and so if I can find a dress around £250 to buy that would be brilliant!!

You would be better off paying for it in instalments then so its kept at the shop, your dress will need to breath once you have it,mine is inside a single duvet cover as recomended by the shop and its at my nans in her spare room.last thing you want to do is put it in the loft.
i also paid £250 for mine should have been £600,got it in a sample sale.so many shops do them, im positive you will find one for that.no shops near me hire, apparently they just dont do it anymore

I found an unworn new dress on ebay for £50! It can be done if you hunt for weeks and search by newly listed and buy it now. Mine was San Patrick new with tags with the Veil (i didn't need so sold it for £26 on ebay). It was from a uk seller and was an actually picture of the dress not a stock picture. There are loads of beautiful dresses that sell for under a hundred on ebay have a look see.

i must say the rest of the sellers dresses where £500 so i wonder if they missed an 0!

Are you selling your dress on? :)

I mean afterwards for storing it in the loft :) but I will take on our advice!

How did you find out about which shops have sample sales?

There's somewhere in Bristol that hires wedding dresses - I have half a feeling it's the place on Sandy Park Road. It was in this week's free wedding mag that they have (along with the property and car one) by the door in Morrisons.

I'm seriously considering this - I mean, I'm only going to wear the dress once and this way I can wear one that's spectacular that I couldn't afford to buy (having planned for years to wear an Amanda Wakeley that I own only to find that now my belly's skinny enough to fit in it my boobs are NEVER going to!)
We may not have it all together, but together we have it all

  • you still have time to wait for the Christmas Sales. My step daughter got hers £1400 reduced to £250 in the sale. It had never been out on the shop floor. We were there queuing for 2 hours before it opened but it was worth it. Got her shoes £90 for £10 and her tiara £133 for £25.
:rotfl: l love this site!! :rotfl:
