Do you find buyers on Gumtree are generally serious about buying or could they just be getting your email? Am asking this because this weekend is the first time I've used Gumtree to try to sell two leather sofas. I've had loads of interest, asking if they are still available. However, I've only had one person come and view. Can someone advise the best procedure? Do I just give my address out to everyone and risk p1ssing some off if someone buys them, or do I do what I have been doing which is wait for them to view and then get back to the next person on the list? It just seems so time consuming, when people could lose interest waiting for me to get back to them. I sound a right pratt I know but I would appreciate a heads up! I haven't been giving out my mobile no. either.
Thanks
Thanks

I posted a reply, I don't know where it's gone. (It's on the other thread that you posted the same question).
I've sold several things on Gumtree & when I get an email I'll send them my number, I give my full address when someone says when they can come & look. I usually put my mobile number on the ad & switch the phone off when it gets late. I made the mistake once of using my landline number & got a plonker phoning in the middle of the night, they got pretty peeved when I told them that I thought their time to call was crap.0 -
Thanks. I've just edited my ads to include my mobile no. Just wondering why people ask if it's still available and then disappear off! I'll just have to be patient!0

I use Gumtree now with large or valuable items, I always include my phone number and when they email I give them it again to call me. If they are genuine they will call so it does save a lot of time wasters. I do the same with text messages, for some reason texters can be just as much of a time waster as emailers. There are a lot of scammers on Gumtree so I always wonder if the emails are to sound you out to see if you are desperate enough to get into a trust building situation where you might let your gaurd down.0

Normally the fake paypal or bank transfer scam. Buyer claims they have sent the money and seller gets an email purportedly from paypal or the bank saying funds are available as soon as the shipping number for the item is added to the claim. Seller ships and buyer disappears as it was them that sent the email.
Or just a classic paypal on collection scam as some people will still fall for it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I think it's just how people on Gumtree are. I had a sofa on it last week, had loads of people emailing me asking if it was still available - I said yes and gave them my mobile to call and then heard nothing back. Will have to see if I start getting spam emails now
I don't give out my address though until they say they are definately coming - if they ask whereabouts I give the area or street name but not the number. Get a bit worried about random people showing up!
