I ordered a necklace for my MIL for christmas. Really hard to tell what some designs look like on there but I figured if it isn't what I thought I can send it back.

    Thanks OP

We do outsource some volume silver contemporary designs to an established family run silver producer in Thailand.

    I rest my case...

Perhaps this should be made a bit clearer on the website rather than leading people to believe that it's all made in Kirkwall. It's simple to add 'made in Scotland' or 'made in Thailand' to an items description. Far more transparent - don't you think?

The comments on here only reinforce the the fact that people may be confused over the origin/country of manufacture of your products.

Oh - and you should maybe remind your staff that they should just tell the truth when someone asks them a direct question about where your products are manufactured...

The only reference I can find to Ortak not being made in the Orkney's but India is this thread & a post by Paolo that has since been on hotukdeals but must have been deleted, as it's only visible in a quoted post. I suspect he is talking rubbish, unless he comes back with further info.

It would appear your suspicions are unfounded. It's ok - there's no need to apologise :T

I'll be sure to add the information from Ortak to the HUKD forum too.
