Oh well, my dh has just wasted his time and money doing the comps for me to post  I did say that I would be late with these this week, most people know I am very unwell at the moment but that doesn't seem to make one scrap of difference :(

Sorry to bump but I feel OP/new posters may be getting a bit of a hard time and I'm sure they meant no ill to you/other compers.

I hope you feel better soon:). Thank you for posting every week:A. Take care:A

it might be a good idea to post it in comps discussions as well though cc, as lots do go read in there :)
& if i remember correctly we were asked to post in comps disc if we had any issues/info regarding posting the mags x

Thats fair enough, posting it in both - however i still say the majority of compers probably never go into the discussion area, or the compers inn (i went once, and felt it was too personal and pally pally for me to join in) so i dont really go to either. Whenever i have gone on holiday and needed someone else to post for me, i put it in the actual thread a day or two before, that way i know people will see, and someone can volunteer to post in my absence. I dont know where it was asked about posting in the discussion thread, ive not seen it anywhere, but then, if it was in the discussion thread, then that would be why.

Its a shame the discussion thread couldnt become a proper sub section (like game over and i won, i won, i won) because more people would see it that way, rather than the stickies which arnt highlighted as clearly.

So often i see new posters getting upset about a whole variety of things, genuine questions asked and then moved quickly and although i understand and agree completely that things must not clog up the main board, i do think its a shame that these questions/complaints are moved to a place not many will actively search out or see.

I can understand it is frustrating for you when you and/or your DH have spent time doing them, especially when you are unwell.

However, i don't think the OP meant anything but to be helpful. They are a new poster, maybe did not even realise there are regular posters for certain comps etc.

I am a regular comper and although i am aware of who posts which weekly comps etc i was not aware you were unwell. So for a brand new person to know this, let alone that regular comps are posted by specific people, is unlikely.

Like comping cat mentioned above i do not go to the discussion board either as i feel it is rather 'cliquey'.

Anyway, i just think that somebody should speak up for the OP who i am sure was only trying to be helpful and contribute :)

    Xmas Saver!
I have been asked by several people by p.m. to post my answers, however, after reading the latest comments, I am sorry but I'm not going to....I do not need the hassle, stress and so on.....I am now waiting to be admitted to hospital for a major op.

I will reply to the p.m.'s I have had :)

Just a reminder before this turns into a massive arguement / debate / slanging match.

i agree cc, as i've said before, lots don't go in comps dis, but, some do, i can remember the asking us to post in comps disc but can't find the post, a lot of the posts have been removed since the new rules came in & even that post has disappeared as well,

i also agree the op who posted proberly didn't/doesn't know/realise there's a reg poster for the mag, judging by thier posts/profile/thanks etc it doesn't look like they've been on the comps board before & they haven't been back to the thread up to now afaics so proberly still don't know about it,

ttt usually lets us know when she's going to be late by saying in the comps discuss, that's all i said, which is where we were asked to post,
if i remember again, if anyone posts the itv comps you usually post, dalkirst or usually someone posts that you post them regularly & that it's generally a good idea to pm you first/&/or check you're not doing them, if you haven't posted,
so i can't see why this should be any different realy,
peeps have replied on itv comps, the op should/could do a quick search first to see if there's a regular poster but for some reason
it's not been mentioned on here.

Can people just take a step back here for a second? We all appreciate the comps board and the regular posters who spend their time and money on these and kindly post them up for us all to share, even though they don't have to. However, the attitude that is coming from some of these regular posters is hardly welcoming. We all make mistakes, and often all that is needed is a kind post and/or a PM to let us know what we've done wrong. Even though it is said that no one owns comps, apparently there is a feeling that some do.

EDIT: With regards to the Comps Discussion thread, well, I find it quite hard to keep up with at times. I would consider myself a regular reader of it, and I didn't know you were ill, or that you would be late in posting. I don't know how a new poster would be expected to know that either.

Im not making any comments on the OP or tttjay, as i mentioned before, and on previous threads that the people who actually go out of their way to BUY magazines and then post them on here, should be given extra 'protection' for want of a better word, because they are actually paying for something, with money rather than time. As you have mentioned with the ITV comps, the comps are left to certain posters purely because they are impossible to search for - with the search facility taking around 10 minutes to update and the fact the comps are posted as they are broadcast, As far as im aware, these are the only two groups of competitions that have been given the protected status, and all others are find, search, post.

My point in this is that new posters (as in this threads case) will either not know about these rules (its impossible to make everyone read the comping guide!) and most people probably dont even realise there is a discussions sticky - so it is understandable for someone not to know that someone has posted in that sticky they would be late posting.

That is why i mentioned about whether it was possible to get the discussion sticky a proper thread of its own, as Game Over etc in which case it would be more obvious and more people would read it, or as i do when im not able to post, add it to a previous thread (either at the time of posting or bumping the previous weeks thread) and that would mean it is seen more easily.

I was purely trying to find a solution to the problem but seem to have upset instead. That was not my intention, and i wont bother trying to help again.
  • I would like to apologise to everyone, especially for those who post the TAB answers on a regular basis - I did not mean to 'step on any toes' or suchlike. I was not aware there are regular posters who post the answers. I did a quick search of the forum and saw someone had posted the answers to Issue 34, so I figured as I'd already completed Issue 35, I'd add them. This is my first thread and first load of posts; you can all be rest assured I won't be posting the answers again (or maybe even any more threads for a while). I just wanted to contribute and help out; give something back to the website and join in. I would also like to thank those who stuck up for me - it is very much appreciated, especially as I'm a total newbie and still finding my way round.
