Should be fine - most 'natural' yogurt tends to be live, even the non-organic (though I don't use the Greek as a starter, just to be on the safe side). I use the cheapo own brand from Lidl and it works just fine :)

That natural yogurt will work well. If you want a greek style texture you'll need to strain it through muslin and you'll end up with about half as much BUT the liquid you drain off is nice to cook with. You can use the liquid mixed with a handful of grated cheese to make macaroni cheese in the oven :j

    I've been Money Tipped!
Thanks folks, I'll either buy the Yeo Valley one or look in Lidl if I a am passing during the week.

Is the general feeling that you NEED to use powdered milk or does it still come out fine without it.

I am following the Dukan diet at the minute and powdered milk won't be allowed until I get to the next phase.

    Cheers.

    ;)

all the skimmed milk powder does is thicken the final yogurt, don't worry it's fine without :)
