Birds Eye cod fish fingers and their peas/petit pois - all other brands don't taste as good. Nicky loo rolls are the softest of the value brands.

Otherwise Smartprice and Basics are the ones for me.
  • I can't think of any branded products which I must have, I just tend to go for the best deal available at the time when buying things. I might reject something based on the ingredients but not the brand.
  • Soups - all have to be Heinz
Branston Beans (used to be Heinz but I'm now converted)
    Heinz Ketchup
    HP Sauce
    Peter's Bakery bread rolls
    Bisto Best Chicken Gravy
    PG tips
    Aldi tinned mushy peas
Aldi tinned garden peas - in water
    Cravendale
    Cadbury's Chocolate
    Lift lemon tea
    Lea & Perrins Worcester Sauce
    Schwartz Chilli Mix
    Cadbury's drinking chocolate
    Andrex toilet roll
    Cif for bathrooms
    Asda Light Salad cream
Valfrutta (costco) tinned tomatoes - in a thick sauce rather than a watery juice

everything else is down to what's on offer

Nescafe for me and Felix for the cats, everything else is negotiable, I buy on price. I shop at 7pm or later to get the last date reductions. I cook from scratch lots of vegetables, no ready meals or junk. I buy out of date food from a cash and carry. That's why I live as cheaply as I do. My name is not Meanqueen for nothing, I am a Super Scrimper. :rotfl:

Where do you find cash and carry out of date food places?

For me it has to be......

    Heinz ketchup
Sure deoderant (have tried so many others - end up smelling like a Russian cab driver!)
    Clover

Most other things are negotiable. :)
You can't have everything.........where would you put it?

Kraft Garlic & Herb dressing - my salads just don't taste the same with anything else on.
Branston Beans (and to think I used to prefer Heinz!)
    Laughing Cow cheese triangles
Flora lighter than light spread (the lowest fat spread I have found)

Apart from those few items I am more than happy to settle for Aldi or stores own brand.

Oh, an afterthought, Napolina tinned tomatoes - both cherry and plum!

    Heinz ketchup
Coca Cola - I buy this from Iceland, 3 litres for £1.50. Own brand or Pepsi just isn't nice and when I first got with my DH he even tried filling a coca cola bottle with Asda own thinking I didn't notice.
    Sure deodrant
    Radox
Maldon salt, need so little and I use cheap salt during cooking unless the toddler is eating it.
    Kenco smooth coffee
Half decent wine. I always spend £5-7 in Tesco as it there are always offers. The offy does 2 or 3 for a tenner all of which just taste like vinegar.

I think pretty much everything else is value or the mid price supermarket own. Loo roll is never value and will be Andrex or Velvet when on offer.
