A Question For NTL Customers

Hi are you with NTL, if so do you have caller display? Do they actually provide this service, or do they just pretend they do? Before I signed up with them they told me yes sure you can have caller display, it's available in your area etc...
I ordered it last week...it will be on within 48hrs etc..........
5 days later i'm still waiting so I call them back. We don't provide it in your area! ! !
They obviously lied to me to get my custom and now i'm stuck with them for 12 months!!!
Has anyone else had the same problem? Does this service exist with NTL?

I am with NTL/TELEWEST who are now the same company and I get Caller ID. I live in Edinburgh. I know that friends in certain areas in the west of Scotland can't have Caller ID with Ntl/Telewest.
I would suggest that you contact NTL and make them aware you signed up to there service on the understanding that you would be able to get there caller id service. Now that this is not available you wish to cancel. State it clear that there staff misinformed you of this and that you do not wish to be a customer with them no longer.
Have you signed any contract yet? Or do they still do it all over the phone?

A quick @ NTL website shows that they do offer caller display. But they do advise its available in ceratin areas.
Chargeable calling features
All chargeable features are accessed by calling 0845 045 0019††† and are only £1.75 each.
Voicemail Plus
Imagine an answer phone that works whether you're out or just engaged. Where the messages are secure and played to you in private. And imagine you can check your messages from anywhere in the world.
Call Waiting
Ever cut short a good chat because you're worried somebody might be trying to call? With call waiting, your line is never tied up, and you'll know if someone's trying to get through. And you can even switch between callers.
Call Divert
Have you ever stayed in for hours just waiting for the phone to ring? Or worried that someone is calling whilst you're out? Well now there's no need, because if you're expecting an important call, you can divert your home phone to wherever it is you'd rather be.
Reminder Call
Have you ever gone to sleep wondering whether the alarm clock will work? Or tried to watch Eastenders without forgetting to take the dinner out of the oven? Reminder Call is the easy and reliable way to wake up, or just jog your memory.
3 Way Calling
Some conversations need more than two people. Next time you're arranging a night out, catching up on news, or just wanting a friendly chat, you can make it a three-way call with 3 Way Calling.
Quick Dial
We all have numbers we call regularly and it's time-consuming having to dial the full number (or reach for the address book) every time. With Quick Dial there's no need - you simply dial a short code instead.
Call Barring
Now you never need worry what sort of bill people are running up on your phone, because with call barring you decide which calls can be made.
Caller Display
No more greeting your Mother-in-Law as though she were your bank manager! Caller Display shows the caller's number, so you know who's calling before you pick up the phone.
Features Bundle
Select your 8 features from the list above for just £3.50

All ex-Telewest franchises have Caller Display, it's a different story with the ex-NTL ones.0 -
Thanks everyone, I gave them a call explaining I only took on their services because I was told I could have caller display. The person I spoke to was apologetic and said she'd put me through to the customer resolution team who would arrange some 'deals' for me. She transferred my call and the line went dead!
I called back and spoke to someone else who said that caller display should definately be available in my area. He said he'd call the faults team and get them to 'force it through' - whatever that means. He then called me back half an hour later to say congradulations you now have caller display! That was yesterday. And guess what................I DON'T! So now I guess i'll have to try the resolution team! I have signed an installation form but not a contract so I don't know where exactly I stand. I know that caller display may not sound like such a big issue, but to me it's important as I had a problem for a couple of years with a weird caller (even though I changed my number). Barring with-held calls and having caller display put an end to it all and I feel much safer with it.<('@')> Oink0 -
