Advice needed - multi city flights/cruise

Hi all
Thanks in advance for any help and advice given
I am going to Chicago in April for an event and have decided that after that weekend, I'd like to stay in the US and go for a break - me and my friend have decided to try our very first cruise.
I have worked out that it will probably be easier/cheaper to look at the cruise seperate to the flights as we are going to Chicago first but as I have never cruised before, I'd like some advice on the best place to book our cruise. We know the cruise we are going to try which is with Carnival (onboard Destiny departing Miami on 16th April 2012) - we've got quotes from a few places but obviously, I have no idea if they are reputable companies....
Also, would you say £700 is about average for a flight from London - Chicago, Chicago to Miami and then Miami back to London as thats the cheapest I have found (with BA!)
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

It *might* be cheaper to book London-Chicago then Miami to London as an open jaw with BA (probably around £500) then book Chicago-Miami separately.0
